Nine people have lost their lives on the roads of Malawi in twelve accidents that occurred on Christmas day.
According to National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera, the figure is lower as compared to last year’s fifteen casualties from sixteen road accidents during the same period.
Kadadzera has told Newsline that most of this year’s road carnage was as a result of over speeding and reckless overtaking.
Police have since urged the general public to adhere to road traffic rules and regulations.
The National Police Spokesperson has warned that the law enforcers will arrest all motorists found over speeding and drink driving.
