Disagreements in the opposition Alliance for Democracy—Aford have reached tipping point as reports indicate that some members within the party structure are contemplating on holding demonstrations in the northern region.

Reports are rife the party has summoned Karonga Central Legislator Frank Mwenifumbo to a disciplinary hearing following recent violent scenes that saw the party’s Secretary General and a regional Chairperson being assaulted.

When contacted on the matter, the party’s President Enock Chihana said a special committee which looks into disciplinary issues is responsible for the hearing of Mwenefumbo’s case.

However, Mwenefumbo says the party has not formerly summoned him.

He said he is surprised to hear the news because he has not violated any law in the party.

Mwenefumbo has openly declared interest to challenge Chihana for the party’s top leadership post at its convention expected on December the Sixteenth.
