As one way of making fashion a business in Malawi, Africa Fashion Festival had a business seminar on Thursday with fashion designer students at Don Bosco Technical College in Lilongwe.

The seminar was conducted under the theme “FASHIONOMICS- the Revolution of the fashion industry in Malawi.

A number of topics where discussed during the seminar some of which includes building a local brand by turning locally available resources into a business to transform the country’s economy.

The founder of Africa Fashion Festival, Lorraine Kljajic, said it was high time Malawi considered fashion as a business.

“We have a lot of young talented Malawians and now with the introduction by the President that every Friday someone should wear something African so these people purchase those African wear from the designers and when the designers get that business they will employ others and the economic growth of the country will progress,” said Kljajic.
