Zathu Publicist Zilanie Gondwe
Malawi’s youthful Zathu Band has been earmarked to headline Lake of Stars events in United Kingdom this weekend.
Confirming the development on Friday, Zathu publicist Zilanie Gondwe disclosed that the band will be performing on 10th and 11th March at Walthamstow and Glasgow respectively.
She said following the March 10 show, Lake of Stars will be hitting the road and heading up to Glasgow for a one day festival at the Art School.
She described the development as an excellent exposure, saying such international stages give an opportunity for local acts to create new audiences and markets, connect with other musicians, other events managers and music creatives.
Commenting on other benefits, Zilanie said Lake of Stars events have always been about boosting Malawi through arts and tourism.
She said events in the UK will open another gateway for tourists to experience Malawi music and culture which will lead them to the country and region.
The Glasgow event has been organized to celebrate the long-standing Scotland – Malawi partnership and offering free daytime activities, including a ‘Malawi Market’.
Other local acts performing alongside Zathu Band will be Faith Mussa, Kalima, Davie Luhanga, Ron Nkomba who is a UK based Malawian artist and has performed at several previous Lake of Stars festivals in Malawi.
Malawi’s Zaluso Arts will also be joining forces with Walthamstow’s Wood Street Walls to create vibrant new street art over the course of the festival.
