President Peter Mutharika says his decision to cut on foreign trips has helped the country in controlling expenditure.
Speaking in Lilongwe on Friday before departing for London to attend the twenty-fifth meeting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government, President Mutharika said the cost cutting measure is important in light of the country’s tough economic times.
The President last travelled in September when he attended the United Nations’ General Assembly in New York.
Meanwhile, President Mutharika said the summit in London is very significant to Malawi’s development as he will have several engagements.
Among others, he is expected to address the Scottish Parliament.
The meeting will be held from April the Sixteenth to Twentieth April the Twentieth.
