Minister of Natural resources, energy and mining Aggrey Massi
Government says it is ready to increase youth involvement and participation in designing and implementation of programs to do with climate change.
Minister of Natural resources, energy and mining Aggrey Massi made the remarks on Monday at the opening of the first ever national youth conference on climate change currently under-way in the capital Lilongwe.
Speaking to Newsline Massi commended young people for organizing the conference and has since urged all the youths to come up with innovative ideas that can bring solutions to mitigating effects of climate change.
Also speaking to Newsline, Lisa Banda, an environmental science student at Bunda College said the youth conference on climate change is an opportunity for young people to share their experiences and knowledge.
She expressed concern that youth fail to actively lead in issues of climate change due to among others factors lack of resources and capacity building in climate change mitigation, and inadequate frameworks towards embracing the same.
