The Malawi Electoral Commission has appointed Sammy Njiram’madzi Alfandika as the commission’s Chief Elections Officer.
According to a statement signed by the commission’s Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah, the appointment comes in accordance with Section Twelve of the Electoral Commission Act.
The statement says the appointment of Alfandika follows a rigorous interview process held on December the Twenty-First and Twenty-Second.
Dr. Ansah says the role of Chief Elections Officer is vital in the management of electoral process and that Alfandika has the right skills and experience to deliver.
The new office occupant is expected to start discharging his duties from January the Second in 2018.
Before his appointment, Alfandika served in senior management positions in government, the Malawi Electoral Commission and international organizations.
