National Registration Exercise On Course

As demand continues piling up in the on-going mass National Identity Cards registration exercise, the National Registration Bureau says the development has not created panic necessitating formation of extra-registration centers.

NRB statement comes as reports indicate that in some isolated centers people are withstanding long queues to get registered, forcing others to bribe registration officers to get into the system.

Some quarters have attributed the poor management of the clients to shortage of staff in the centers where the exercises are being conducted.

While commending people for coming in their large numbers to get registered, Spokesperson for the Bureau Norman Fulatira says people should not panic as the exercise takes a maximum of twenty-five days to complete in an area.

Meanwhile, Fulatira says the bureau has started extending the number of days in some areas where the demand is still high, in the special circumstances when the set days have elapsed.
