The Public Affairs Committee-PAC has added voice on calls for government to exercise prudence in public financial management.
In recent weeks, government has been under pressure following revelations that it authorized the release of money amounting to four billion Kwacha to eighty six members of Parliament without approval of the National Assembly.
It is alleged that the selected Lawmakers were handpicked to honor them for shooting down Electoral Reforms bills.
Since the matter came to light there have been calls for Minister of Finance Goodall Gondwe and Minister of Local Government Kondwani Nankhumwa to resign for abuse of funds.
In an interview with Newsline, Public Affairs Committee -PAC Spokesperson Father Peter Mulomole described government’s handling of the matter as uncalled for.
He further observed that the funds could have been used for projects in the wake of a number of challenges Malawians are facing.
