Representatives of the Public Affairs Committee- PAC are engaged in a meeting few hours before expiry of an ultimatum to Parliament over the tabling of electoral reforms bill.
In a petition which was also presented to President Peter Mutharika, the members of the clergy gave both the Speaker and Mutharika seven days ultimatum to pass the bill within the current sitting or face a national wide demonstration.
However as the ultimatum expires, there seems to be no sign of action on the same in the national assembly.
On Monday the house adopted the Political Parties Bill.
The bill seeks to promote political party accountability in many areas including financing and putting a lid on culture of handouts.
Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Samuel Tembenu will wind up the debate today.
Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs Maxwell Thyolera has since hailed the move saying it signifies that Members of Parliament are understanding the bill.
