The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) unshaken by government's criticism of the role of its existence

The Public Affairs Committee—PAC says it is not shaken by government’s recent remarks that Malawians have lost confidence in the religious body.

In a recent statement signed by Minister of Information Nicholas Dausi, government has given the quasi-religious body a vote of no confidence accusing PAC of departing from principles of its existence.

The Minister accused the Public Affairs Committee of attempting a revolt against the current leadership contrary to promoting unity and peace.

Dausi said PAC’s continuous attack on government is a clear indication that the religious body has lost its way.

He said PAC has lost direction by raging war with the head of state instead of engaging in talks as stipulated in their constitution.

It says Public Affairs Committees constitution states that the organization is primarily founded on the principle of “opening and maintaining a dialogue with Government of the Republic of Malawi” in representing the popular desire of the people of Malawi.

However, the Public Affairs Committee through its Spokesperson Father Peter Mulomole

says it is not shaken and will continue to provide checks and balances on public office bearers.
