The Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism has put in place a number of policies aimed at revamping the tourism sector and boosting the economy.
Director for the department Isaac Katopola said this in an interview with Newsline.
According to Katopola, the department wants to increase the number of tourists visiting the country by among others restocking wildlife in game centers and improving the road network system.
Katopola said tourism has a lot of potential to replace tobacco as Malawi’s top forex earner.
Meanwhile, the country is later in April expected to host the second Takulandirani Malawi International Tourism.
