Traditional leaders joining the efforts in promoting girl education across Malawi

Traditional leaders have called for concerted efforts in promoting girl education in the country.
According to the traditional leaders it is shocking to learn that dropout rate among girls continues to sour despite various interventions aimed at stemming the problem.
Despite high poverty levels largely contributing to the malpractice, the Chiefs say government and parents have a crucial role to play to ensure that girls are kept in schools.
One of the traditional leaders is Senior Chief Kachindamoto of Dedza who has since called on all traditional leaders to set up by-Laws to help address factors that affect girls’ education.
She has since cautioned parents who force girls into early marriages.
Senior Chief Kachindamoto has received several awards for her role in promoting girl education.
