Timveni Child and Youth Media Organisation says it is important for parents to be in the forefront in nurturing their children’s talents to help them achieve their dreams.
The call was made at the close of a four day scouting session for music talent in Mulanje district under the 18+ Music Competition.
Timveni’s Project Officer Memory Mbewe said there is so much talent that never sees the light of the day due to lack of support.
According Mbewe, parents have a role to ensure that their children are able to pursue their talents without compromising their education.
About a hundred and five youths participated in the auditions in Mulanje alone, forty three of the total population being girls.
In her remarks, 21-year-old Fortune Kamowa applauded Timveni for coming up with the competition and urged her fellow youth to join the competition before it closes as one never knows where their success lies.
The competition is expected to run up to next March where a winner is expected pocket two hundred thousand kwacha among other prizes, including a scholarship.
