Government has removed Six Hundred Thousand people from the list o 4.2 million beneficiaries in the Affordable Input Program following a validation exercise.
The cut means the 160 Billion Kwacha program will have 3.6 million beneficiaries.
Principle Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Erica Maganga confirmed this when officials from the ministry appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture on Tuesday in Lilongwe.
According to Maganga, among others, the National Registration Bureau identified duplication of names of beneficiaries, inclusion of deceased names as well as those that travelled abroad.
On the issue of challenges rocking selling depots, Maganga was quick to point out that currently government has addressed some of the problems.
