ARTGLO CALLS FOR MORE COVERAGE ON CHILD RIGHTS

By Franco Mwachande
Art and Global Health Centre Africa (ArtGlo) has appealed to journalists in the country to report on issues concerning children.
In an interview with Timveni after a two-day workshop, ArtGlo Youth and Community Engagement Manager, Lekodi Magombo said empowering journalists with skills in reporting about child rights can help to reduce cases of child abuse.
The training was based on the child protection work which ArtGlo is implementing with UNICEF to end violence against children and to raise awareness on the current Cholera outbreak.
Magombo added that journalists in the country play a big role in raising awareness and educating the masses.
A journalist from Maziko Radio Station Cynthia Yona has commended ArtGlo for the training, saying she will report more about child protection.
ArtGlo is implementing child protection projects at T/As Njewa and Chiseka.
ADC Chairperson at T/A Chiseka, Godwell Fumulani said the organisation has helped to raise awareness on children’s rights in the area.
11 journalists from several media houses attended the training.
