BOREHOLE IMPROVES HYGIENE IN KADEWERE VILLAGE

People in the area of Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu district have hailed the drilling of a borehole for improving hygiene and economic status of households.
Courtesy of Water for People, the borehole has necessitated establishment of banking group.
Not only is the group proving a life changer for households, it is also saving the lifespan of the borehole through contributions of K500 from families for maintenance.
The organization has drilled 38 new boreholes, rehabilitated 43 non-functional boreholes, and constructed six latrine blocks at two public primary schools.
In all these developments, Water for People is collaborating with the district council.
For people in Kandindi village, Traditional Authority Kadewere in the district, “access to clean water has not just improved sanitation but also created economic opportunities. “
Villagers have established a borehole banking group to alleviate poverty.
The group’s chairperson Evelyn Macheka said, “Many lives have changed for the better.”
Chiladzulo district has more than 300 thousand residents, however noit all of them have access to clean water.
