CDEDI PROTESTS SHIFTED

 CDEDI PROTESTS SHIFTED

By Aamon Butao

The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives has shifted to this Friday its planned demonstrations which were slated for Wednesday.

This follows an earlier communication Lilongwe city authorities gave CDEDI that the initial date was already booked for other demonstration by fuel transporters.

According to CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa there has been fresh information that the fuel transporters have called off their  protests.

Following this development, Namiwa says CDEDI has pushed forward its own demonstration to Friday.

Among other grievances CDEDI is protesting against an influx of illegal immigrants taking up small scale businesses, alleged selective justice by government, alleged corruption by government officials at the state oil company NOCMA and mismanagement of Affordable Input Program.
