Livingstonia based political commentator George Phiri has accused president Lazarus Chakwera of not fulfilling his promise of meeting leader of opposition quarterly.

This comes following revelations by the leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who said the two figure heads are yet to meet since president Chakwera ascended to power.

During one of his addresses to the nation Chakwera said he will be meeting the leader of opposition to discuss issues of national importance.

Speaking recently leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa told Timveni that he is yet to receive the courtesy call from the president.

"I'am ready to talk with the president on issues affecting Malawians," said Nankhumwa.

Commenting on the matter Phiri said this is a sad development and urged the two leaders to meet up and ponder on various issues rocking the country.

According to Phiri the president 'should act by his word' if he is to have trust from Malawians.

Phiri said, "So far, some Malawians have lost trust in the president for not fulfilling some campaign pledges."
