CHILD PROTECTION OFFICERS APPEAL FOR SUPPORT TOWARDS STREET CONNECTED CHILDREN

By Jecina Chikwelete

Child protection officers have asked organizations to consider bailing out street connected children to curb crimes.

The call comes following reports of increased criminal activities allegedly committed by street connected children.

National child protection officer at the Malawi police service Esau Kamwendo said that the closure of Chisomo children's club affected their work as the organization was doing a commendable job.

Kamwendo further said that police are engaging community members to civic educate people and children themselves on how they can handle children to avoid being in conflict with the law.
