COMMUNITIES URGED TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST MISMANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES

By Pemphero Malimba

Community members in Dedza district have been urged to speak out against mismanagement of resources of projects being implemented at local level for improved service delivery.

The National Initiative for Civic Education NICE public trust says community members need to see to it that there is transparency and accountability from duty bearers on any development initiatives taking place in their areas.

According to Ntcheu District Civic Education Officer for NICE Alinafe Chikakuda, this can help to minimize loss of resources wasted due to negligence by holding duty bearers to account on public expenditures.

Chikakuda made the remarks on the sidelines of a long day community social accountability learning forum organized by United Purpose in Dedza.

United Purpose programs manager for Dedza Blessings Kambombo said the forum was organized to help share experiences among various stakeholders in the governance sector.
