Some stakeholders championing fight against trafficking in persons have asked the country’s graft busting body to investigate events that led to a lower court letting a Dutch national go scot free.
The High Court overturned the decision which means Jan Willeim Akster will still answer sexual abuse against children and child trafficking among other charges.
The Civil Society Organizations, which include the Eye of the Child, feel Akster has deep political connections.
Eye of the Child’s spokesperson Memory Chisenga raised fears that "Akster might continue perpetrating abuse against children" taking into account that he runs a school.
Magistrate Soka Banda had discontinued the case citing delays by the state since the Dutch international’s arrest in 2018.
