The Diabetes Association of Malawi has decried the shortage of drugs in public hospitals to treat diabetes.
The President of the Association Clement Mandala said the development is proving to be a huge setback in the fight against the disease.
Mandala’s remarks come as the country is observing diabetes awareness month.
Speaking in Nsanje district to mark World Diabetes Day, Mandala has called on all stakeholders to support efforts towards addressing the drug shortage.
Officials at Nsanje district hospital say the facility registers a daily figure of 14 new cases of diabetes patients.
