EAM INVOLVES MEN IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILD MARRIAGES

By Jecina Chikwelete

The Evangelical Association of Malawi's Stop Child Marriage project has adopted the male involvement in the fight against child marriages.

This is a deliberate move aimed at incorporating men in the fight, having realized that most organizations are targeting girls only in their interventions on child marriages.

Speaking with Timveni Stop Child Marriage project coordinator at the Evangelical Association of Malawi Amos Chibwana said that stakeholders in the fight against child marriages should ensure that no one is left behind.

Chibwana said, "Men are considered perpetrators of child marriages hence need for their direct involvement."

The project is offering vocational training to three hundred and seven beneficiaries out of which seventy- three are boys while two hundred and thirty-four are girls.
