GENDER ACTIVIST COMMENDS CHAKWERA FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT EFFORTS

One of the country’s renowned gender activists, Emma Kaliya, has commended President Lazarus Chakwera for appointing Colleen Zamba as the new Secretary to the President and Cabinet replacing Zanga Zanga Chikhosi.

Chakwera made the announcement on Tuesday during a national address where he said Chikhosi will be assigned other duties.

Commenting on the matter, Kaliya said this is good news because many women are now in key positions.

According to Kaliya, Chakwera is showing the nation that women can be in key positions as he continues entrusting them with big responsibilities.

She said this is crucial to the development of the country.

Kaliya said it was impressive that women are in key positions at ACB, office of the Ombudsman, Malawi Law Society, Parliament, Financial Intelligence Authority and in Cabinet.
