Minister of Education Agnes Nyalonje says government plans to recruit all trained teachers in the country to reduce the teacher to pupil ratio.
The minister was responding to a question from Mulanje South West Member of Parliament George Chaponda on what government is doing to recruit the remaining IPTE teachers on permanent basis.
Recently Government indicated that it would recruit 3500 auxiliary teachers only out of 7500 teachers from IPTE 13 and 14 cohorts that are currently unemployed.
According to Nyalonje, since Tonse Alliance came into power, more than 1100 secondary school teachers and more than 2500 primary school teachers have been permanently recruited.
In an interview with Timveni, Nyalonje said currently the ministry is following the right procedures to interview teachers before recruitment as directed by the Ombudsman's report of 2021.
She said when government sources enough funds all trained teachers will be employed on a permanent basis.
