GOVT CALLS FOR SUPPORT FOR SURVIVORS OF CYCLONE ANA

Government has called on international non-governmental organisations and other charity organisations to support people affected by the cyclone Ana in the Shire Valley. 

Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia, made the appeal at Ngabu in Chikwawa district when she donated food and non food items to the families who have been affected by floods in the district. 

In an interview with Timveni, Mia who is also Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Nkomnbezi, said the disaster has left many people destitute hence the call for urgent assistance. 

Between 24th and 26th January this year, Cyclone Ana, affected all districts of the Southern region displacing people and destroying property and damaging roads.
