Government has admitted gaps still persist in provision of oxygen therapy and emergency care in health facilities.
Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda disclosed this on Tuesday in Lilongwe during the launch of the Malawi National Medical Oxygen 2021-2026 and Emergency and Critical Care 2021-2031 strategies.
According to Chiponda, the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed gaps in the country’s health system with oxygen shortage being a huge burden.
Chiponda said "the two strategies will help improve health service delivery" claiming that emergency care is essential and cost-effective.
The minister highlighted that the implementation of the two policies will help in resource and system reorganization through among others infrastructural development and health personnel recruitment.
