GOVT SET TO LAUNCH TEACHERS COUNCIL
By Aamon Butao
Government says the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the launch of the Teachers Council as required by the Education Act of 2013.
Minister of Education Agnes NyaLonje disclosed this in an interview with Timveni but hinted that government plans to establish the council later this year.
"The council will help improve the welfare of teachers including receiving complaints and addressing the grievances," said NyaLonje.
NyaLonje said teachers deserve to be treated with dignity to propel them to support initiatives aimed at uplifting education standards in the country.
The Minister went on to say government is working tirelessly to boost education.
