GOVT TO CONSTRUCT HOUSES FOR PERSONS WITH ALBINISM

By Vanessa Khumalo

The Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi has expressed hope after K400 million was set aside for the construction of houses for persons with albinism in the 2021/2022 budget statement.

APAM President Ian Simbota, in an interview with Timveni, said, "Expectations are that the project will be delivered with keen adherence to prudent financial management."

Simbota said the houses will enhance security of persons with albinism taking into account that most atrocities occur in rural areas.

Simbota challenged the new administration to learn from mistakes of previous regimes by championing political will in uplifting the welfare of persons with albinism.

Parliamentary clusters are currently scrutinizing the proposed One point Nine Trillion Kwacha national budget.
