GREENBELT PUMPS UP SUPPORT FOR JOB CREATION

The Green Belt Authority says its programs are making remarkable progress in meeting set targets and helping in job creation. 

The authority’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Amon Mluwira disclosed this in an interview with Timveni. 

"Programs being undertaken by the Green Belt Authority have potential of reducing youth unemployment in the country," said Mluwira 

Mluwira cited an $8 Million project being implemented in Lumbadzi in Lilongwe which has created over 500 jobs in intensive vegetable farming.

Mluwira said, " The project aims at curbing importation of vegetables and fruits which have flooded the local market."

However, he was quick to point out that lack of adequate funding is derailing operations of the authority.
