By Jecina Chikwelete

Minister of Homeland Security, Jean Sendeza, has called for concerted efforts in implementing the Ministry's newly-launched strategic plan.

The strategic plan seeks to enhance peace and security in the country.

Several stakeholders have expressed commitment towards the implementation of the strategic plan which has a life span of 5 years.

In an interview with Timveni Online, Sendeza said the plan seeks to deal with issues of Drug and Wildlife trafficking, trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants.

She added that the Plan will also look into issues of how Malawi manages refugees, national registration and immigration issues.

In his remarks, United Nations Resident Representative Shigeki Komatsubara said the plan has come at the right time as it is complementing the just-passed Peace and Unity Bill.
