Female prisoners have been urged to fight for their rights whilst in correction facilities.
Advocacy, Communication and Child Protection Manager at World Vision Malawi Liz Lombe said this in an interview with Timveni.
According to Lombe, female inmates who are survivors of gender based violence have potential of ensuring that prisons are free from such malpractice.
Lombe said that it is very unfortunate that some women were locked up for perpetrating gender based violence.
In this regard, she called on female prisoners to report any kind of abuse to authorities.
