Investment in science, technology and innovation has been earmarked as one avenue of addressing the country’s high unemployment burden.
The National Commission for Science and Technology has hinted that solutions inspired by science and technology would help unlock job creation opportunities.
Addressing the media in Lilongwe on Thursday, the commission’s Director General Elijah Wanda said most challenges in different sectors require innovation approach.
Wanda expressed worry over lack of platform for innovative minds to showcase and upscale their inventions.
However, warned that the decade long stalling of the Science and Technology Fund is affecting support to research and innovations.
Meanwhile, the body has organized a dissemination conference in November where about two hundred researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs will meet in Mangochi district.
