JOURNALISTS TASKED TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL

Reported by Pemphero Malimba

In the wake of full re-opening of schools in the country, journalists in Dedza district have been challenged to support government’s efforts by encouriging students  to go back to school.

The Director of Nutrition, HIV and Aids in the ministry of Education Virginia Chikakula Chikakula was speaking this on the sidelines of an orientation workshop of Dedza based reporters and producers on the initiative.

According to Virginia Chikakula observed that government alone cannot implement the go back to school initiative.

Chikakula therefore stressed the need for media houses and media practitioners in particular to support the cause through enhanced reports and programs relating to the go back to school philosophy.

Speaking on behalf of journalists, Dedza Media Forum chairperson, Sothine Ndazi commended the ministry for the training.

Ndazi said the training has helped to sharpen reporters on their day to day reporting.
