JOURNALISTS URGED TO HOLD DUTY BEARERS ACCOUNTABLE

By Alex Batison

The National Planning Commission (NPC) has called upon journalists to ensure that all duty-bearers are held accountable for the country to achieve Malawi 2063.

The sentiments were made on Friday during a media engagement in Lilongwe, where the implementation, coordination, and progress tracking of Malawi 2063 and MIP-1 were discussed.

Dr. Thomas Munthali, the Director General of the NPC, emphasized the significant role of journalists in promoting accountability and transparency among duty-bearers.

Munthali stressed the importance of persistence until action is taken by officials.

However, he also urged media practitioners to avoid sensational reporting and instead focus on positive reporting, as this can attract investors to the country.

The media seminar was attended by journalists from various media houses in both Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
