First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly has disclosed that a 3 week Parliamentary training program will boost the third arm of government’s oversight and representation roles.

Madalitso Kazombo said this during the official opening of the third cohort workshop in Lilongwe to be conducted by the Malawi Institute of Management.

Kazombo said, "Legislators will be groomed on how to discharge duties both in Parliament and outside the August House."

The First Deputy Speaker challenged the Members of Parliament to wake up and demand from authorities voters’ needs.

Kazombo said it is quite a shame that voters have been taken for a ride besides Malawi attaining 57 years of independence.

He expressed optimism that even during deliberations Lawmakers will be more proactive and provide concrete objections.

In his remarks, Malawi Institute of Management Acting Director Samson Phiri said the training will enhance legislators’ active participation in the August House.
