LIGHT HOUSE TRUST IMPRESSED WITH PrEP UPTAKE

by Meclina Chirwa

Light House Trust says it is impressed with the uptake of Oral Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis—PrEP in a drive to fight HIV and AIDS in the country.

Senior Clinician at Light House Trust, Kelvin Rambiki has told Timveni Online that PrEP has received overwhelming response since its rolling out.

He said as of September last year, about 900 people have received PrEP courtesy of interventions by the Light House Trust in Lilongwe alone.

However, he was quick to point out that there is need for massive awareness among the populace regarding the drug.

Oral Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis is a daily course of antiretroviral drugs taken by HIV-negative people to protect themselves from contracting the virus.
