The Malawi Tourism Council the country is witnessing a pick in business despite travel restrictions for foreign tourists.

According to the council’s Chairperson Jones Malili, the country’s tourism sector is now heavily reliant on domestic tourists.

"For the past 3 months, business has been going on well but  optimistic business will resume to full capacity as countriies elsewhere lift restrictions," said Malili.

He said most businesses that closed shop due to the pandemic have since regained momentum.

However, the tourism council fears for the worst should a third Covid-19 wave hit the country.
