MALAWI LAUNCHES AN ACADEMY OF SCIENCE

 By Jecina Chikwelete

The country has launched an academy of science, a first of its kind, in a quest to ensure successful implementation of Malawi 2063.

Stakeholders have since hailed the development as the right direction of being a science driven nation.

Speaking during the launch in Lilongwe on Wednesday, Minister of Education Agnes Nyalonje said, "All the plans laid out in the Malawi 2063 blueprint relies on science."

Nyalonje added that the academy will also help supply scientists to the country’s economy.

In her remarks, general secretary for the newly launched academy Dr Elizabeth Bandason said that the institution will bring together great minds from both academia and ordinary Malawians with strong taste sciences.

"The academy will also provide guidance to government with proven research," said Bandason.
