 MALAWI REGISTERS A DECREASE IN GBV DURING THE SECOND WAVE

The Women Legal Resources Center(WOLREC) says the second wave of the Corona Virus pandemic has seen few gender based violence cases compared with the first wave.  

WOLREC Executive Director Maggie Kathewera Banda was speaking in an interview with Timveni Online in her assessment of the impact the outbreak has had on efforts to curb gender based violence.

Banda said, "Stakeholders have managed to work of gaps that the first wave of Covid-19 exposed."

Banda emphasized on need to increase awareness campaigns among people on the dangers of gender based violence.

She has also urged women and girls as well as men to report any case of abuse to relevant authorities.
