Female law enforcers in Mangochi have raised MWK900 thousand through a big walk to help improve welfare of orphaned children.
The move is also another way of strengthen their relationship with members of the general public in the district.
Mangochi Police Women Network together with female officers from immigration and Prison Services organized the fundraising event on Thursday from Mangochi Police Station to Makawa Trading Centre.
The funds will be donated to 100 orphans under Malawi Children's Village Orphanage Centre which is located along Mangochi-Monkey-Bay road.
The grouping was established in the Malawi Police Service with an aim of promoting women empowerment and ensure gender mainstreaming and equality in the service, and charity work happens to be one of the network’s corner stones.
