MBTS URGED YOUTH TO DONATE BLOOD

By Blessings Bomati

The Malawi Blood Transfusion Services (MBTS) has called upon the youth to develop a culture of donating blood in order to help the country have enough blood for those in dire need.

In an interview with Timweni Online, MBTS Public Relations Officer for Lilongwe, Upile Kaizi, said there are other services which require assistance from foreign organizations and partners, but the issue of blood donation is the responsibility of citizens.

Kaizi added that the youth should have the desire to donate blood because of unforeseen events such as accidents that require immediate availability of blood.

She then requested the youth to ignore the misconceptions that have been holding them back from donating blood.

The Covid pandemic has also affected blood collection.
