MCP CONCERNED MEMBERS IN TALKS WITH PARTY’S HIERARCHY

By Aamon Butao

A group of concerned members of the Malawi Congress Party says discussions with the office of the President over wide range of grievances the group had presented are at an advanced stage.

Some few weeks ago, the Second Liberation of Malawi National Malawi Congress Party penned President Lazarus Chakwera to express displeasure with his leadership.

Some of the concerns the disgruntled MCP supporters highlighted included public appointments the group deems a threat to the Tonse Alliance government, alleged misconduct of Chakwera’s aides and call for the president to recall all ambassadors appointed under the DPP regime.

Speaking to Timveni, spokesperson for the pressure group Alex Major was "optimistic the meeting will bear fruits."

But Major did not disclose next course of action in the event the talks break down.
