MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE SETS MINIMUM PRICES FOR CROPS

The Ministry of Agriculture has released minimum farm gate prices for strategic crops for the 2020/2021 agriculture season.
Speaking in Lilongwe during a media briefing, Minister responsible Lobin Lowe warned traders against buying crops below the set prices.
According to Lowe, state produce trader ADMARC will open its markets once farm produce is fully dry with small and medium business players empowered to join the market.
Among other crops, maize will be sold at K150/kg, Soya beans will fetch the price of K320/kg , shelled groundnuts will be going at K480/kg and a KG of Cotton will be sold at K320/kg.
Meanwhile The Malawi Police Service has vowed to provide maximum security to ensure asuccessful marketing season.
