MP ADVOCATES FOR AIRPORT PROJECT TO BAIL OUT JOBLESS YOUTH

Member of Parliament for Mangochi Central Constituency, Victoria Kingstone, has disclosed that the Mangochi International Airport will create more jobs for the youth once completed.

Kingstone said this on Tuesday in the National Assembly when asking questions to the minister of transport and public works on the status of the airport.

According to Kingstone, once the airport is constructed it will help to employ the youth in Mangochi most of whom are jobless and some just rely on fishing.

The legislator said government should initiate the construction of the airport as it will also contribute to the creation of one million jobs.

She said people from Mangochi were told about the airport in 2019 by former president Peter Mutharika during his address.

But responding to the questions, Minister of Transport and Public Works Jacob Hara said the construction of the Mangochi International Airport will start soon after the rehabilitation of Chileka and Mzuzu airports.
