The Germany government has tipped Malawi to focus on alleviating poverty especially in the rural areas.
Germany ambassador to Malawi Ralph Timmerman said this on Monday in Lilongwe during the signing ceremony of financial technical cooperation agreement between Malawi and Germany.
According to Timmerman, Germany government has made a grant of €23 Million to Malawi to support improvements in health service delivery private, agriculture and nutrition and good governance.
He said in addition, the grant will also simultaneously, directly and indirectly support activities outlined in the covid-19 national response plan.
In this regard, Timmerman has urged government to ensure that the grant is well utilized and benefit the vulnerable.
In his remarks, minister of finance and economic affairs Sosten Gwengwe said the grant will benefit the poor and improve their livelihoods.
