President Lazarus Chakwera says Malawi Government has committed itself to sustain and improve allocation towards the education sector to within 15% to 20% of the total national expenditure by 2030.

Chakwera made the remarks at the United Nations Transforming Education Summit in New York.

According to Chakwera, government wants to improve primary completion rate from the current 51% to 100%.

He also added his administration seeks to increase the transition to secondary school from 38% to 100%  in a safe learning environment by 2030.

Chakwera then pleaded with developed nations to put into action the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries that calls for properly designed digital education platforms that could revolutionise education and expand opportunities.
