Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa has asked government to consider addressing the welfare of former Members of Parliament.
According to Nankhumwa, ex-Legislators are living a miserable life yet they contributed a lot to the country’s development.
Nankhumwa said the country must appreciate the good work that the former legislators did to the nation.
However, commenting on the matter, political analyst Makhumbo Munthali said it is only pension scheme that can address the welfare of the former MPs.
He stressed tha the country’s economy cannot sustain such an initiative.
