NATIONAL CIVIC EDUCATION POLICY LAUNCHED

The Ministry of Civic Education and National Unity has launched the National Civic Education Policy which focuses on influencing positive behavior and mindset change. 

Speaking on Monday in Lilongwe Minister responsible Timothy Mtambo said that the policy will instill a culture of patriotism, citizenship, and leadership in the citizenry.

According to Mtambo, lack of coordination, unqualified civic education providers and lack of research for evidence based civic education are some of challenges facing the Ministry.

Mtambo added that the policy has been addressed to overcome some of the challenges the ministry is facing.

He said the ministry is also working towards the reintroduction of Civics in schools as the long-term and sustainable strategy of empowering citizens.
